FINAL ECOLATUN MEETING IN TENERIFE
From March 18th to 22nd the final meeting of the project "ECOlogy comparative trophic of LArvas of ATTUN red atlantic (Thunnus thynnus) of the areas of the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Mexico "(ECOLATUN CTM2015-68473-R MINECO / FEDER).” was held in the Oceanographic Center of Canary Islands (Tenerife) of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO). In this meeting, the results generated by the project have been presented and discussed by scientists from different institutions: ECOSUR (Mexico), NOAA (Miami, USA), New York University (CUNY, USA) and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (USA), with the collaboration of researchers from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (California, USA), the University of Hawaii (USA) and the University of Miami-RSMAS (USA). Under the coordination of researchers from the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, a comparative approach has been studied, how differences in feeding strategies can explain the growth variability in larvae of bluefin tuna, which has important repercussions on larval survival and, therefore, in the recruitment.
