NOAA RESTORE Project "Bluefin Tuna Ecology" in the GOM

Under the ECOLATUN framework, scientists of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) participate in a NOAA vessel ship Nancy Foster in an oceanographic survey in the Gulf of Mexico with US institutions such as Scripps Inst. of Oceanography, Univ. California in San Diego, Florida State University, University of Hawaii, led by the NOAA Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC - Miami). This action is coordinated with international cooperation with the RESTORE_NOAA project "Effects of NitrogenSources and PlanktonFood-Web Dynamics on HabitatQualityfortheLarvae of AtlanticBluefin Tuna in theGulf of Mexico". The objective of this project is to improve the understanding of the biogeochemical and ecological dynamics in the ecosystem of the Gulf of Mexico, providing vital information on the processes and trophic networks that inhabit the first stages of life of bluefin tuna and other important fish species in the Gulf.
