The Master Student, Patricio Ahumada Etchepareborda from Cadiz University (UCA), has developed his Master Thesis in the Oceanografic Center of Malaga under the supervision of Drs. Raúl Laiz-Carrión and Amaya Uriarte. This thesis has studied early life stages of two different tuna species that inhabit the Mediterranean Sea, Bullet Tuna, Auxis rochei (Risso, 1810), and Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, Thunnus thynnus (Linnaeus, 1758), focusing on the larvae trophic ecology. Patricio has analysed the trophic ecology of top predator larvae by means of Stable Isotope Analysis (SIA). This study is complementary with the studies being carried out in the framework of the ECOLATUN Project (“ECOlogía trófica comparativa de LArvas de aTUN rojo atlántico (Thunnus thynnus) de las áreas de puesta del Mediterráneo-NO y el Golfo de México”: CTM2015-68473-R MINECO/FEDER). The larval ecology group of this oceanographic center has hopeful expectations for his future contributing with his study to further collaborations.
Patricio has defended his MS: “Ecología trófica en estadios larvarios de dos especies de túnidos (Auxis rochei (Risso, 1810) y Thunnus thynnus (Linnaeus, 1758)) que conviven en el Mediterráneo” with maximum qualification.
